Biography
I’m an author, speaker and researcher. I specialise in intuition (in decision-making), hubris (in leadership) and learning and development (in business organizations).
As well as conducting research on intuition and hubris, I teach executives, postgraduates and undergraduates, consult with organizations, and connect with wider audiences through the media.
Before becoming an academic I worked in the private sector for the best part of ten years. I bring practical experience and know-how to my work.

My Work
My clients include the UK Home Office, Scottish and Welsh Governments, Care Quality Commission, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Board Intelligence, The Mind Gym, Tesco, and many other business and professional organizations.
My work has featured on the BBC and Sky TV, and in the Times and Guardian newspapers and Forbes and People Management magazines.
I am currently Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Surrey Business School, University of Surrey, UK, Visiting Professor at ISM University of Management and Economics, Vilnius, and a Fellow of the UK’s Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS), Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD), and Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

About Me
I was born and raised in Widnes in the north west of England, where I attended Wade Deacon Grammar School. I went on to study geography at the University of Leeds.
I did my PhD part-time at the University of Birmingham whilst working as a manager in the gas industry in the 1990s.
When I'm not working I enjoy listening to classical and jazz music, looking at paintings, cooking, being outdoors and travelling, especially to the Greek Islands.
Empowering People & Organisations
In my work I enable and empower people and organisations to:
Use Intuition to Take Better Decisions
Be More Aware of and Resilient to the Perils of Hubris
Maximize Their Learning Potential
